Abra Pressler writes romance fiction from her home on Ngunnawal Country in Canberra, Australia. She grew up on Wiradjuri land in West Wyalong, NSW and studied Creative Writing at RMIT University in Melbourne, where she lived for three years & worked as both a junior TV writer and a chocolate maker simultaneously.

With little else to do during the pandemic, Abra decided to self-publish an old manuscript in May 2020, titled More. By December, she’d sold 3,000 copies.

She continued writing romance and was shortlisted for the 2021 Penguin Random House WriteIt Fellowship for Love and Other Scores, and after a mildly viral tweet, she signed with Pan Macmillan Australia in 2023. Love and Other Scores was published in November 2023.

The second book in the series, Love Means Nothing, is forthcoming in 2026.

Abra also received the 2022 Allen & Unwin Voices from the Intersection Mentorship for a Young Adult manuscript. In 2024, she was awarded an ArtsACT grant for the drafting of her third adult novel.

Abra has judged the Valerie Parv Award for Romance Writers of Australia, the 2022 Sex and Gender Prize for Stringybark Publishing, and served on the Board of MARION from 2018 to 2020.

When she’s not writing, Abra works in marketing and is an avid Sydney Swans supporter.
